iScope Concussion & Pain Clinic is a specialized treatment and assessment centre offering a range of services and treatments with several locations across Canada. Our clinics use a variety of diagnostic tools to identify the root cause of a patient’s pain. JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Med-Legal Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a legal background in personal injury, with at least two years of relevant experience. Candidates with a background in Kinesiology or other related health fields will be considered assets. As a Med-Legal Assistant, you will report directly to the Medical Director and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team. Your primary responsibilities will involve direct communication with patients, completing intakes, gathering comprehensive medical histories, and assisting in the preparation of medical legal reports. This position offers the flexibility of remote work, allowing you to work from home.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Communicate directly with patients to collect accurate and detailed information regarding their medical history and personal injury case.

2. Conduct thorough intakes with patients, ensuring all relevant information is obtained and documented appropriately.

3. Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team, including neurologists and other healthcare professionals, to ensure comprehensive patient assessments.

4. Assist in the preparation of medical legal reports, based on the neurologist's assessment and analysis of patient information, including email communication with legal representatives to release the reports.

5. Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive patient information with the utmost professionalism and adherence to privacy regulations.

6. Ensure accuracy and quality in all documentation, reports, and correspondence; tracking assessments and reports and ensure deadlines are being met.

7. Support the Medical Director in managing patient files.

8. Stay updated with industry regulations, legal requirements, and best practices related to med-legal procedures.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:

· Minimum of two years of experience as a Med-Legal Assistant or in a similar legal support role, preferably in the field of personal injury.

· Strong legal background and knowledge of med-legal processes, procedures, and terminology.

· Familiarity with medical terminology, particularly related to neurology, personal injury, and rehabilitation.

· Background in Kinesiology or other related health field is considered an asset.

COMPETENCIES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with patients, medical professionals, and legal personnel.

· Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and prioritize deadlines.

· Proficient in using computer software and applications for data entry, documentation, and report generation.

· Ability to work independently and remotely, demonstrating self-motivation and a strong work ethic.

· Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.

· Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary team.

Please note that this is a temporary position, based on the return of the incumbent. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to work remotely from home, with regular communication and reporting to the Medical Director and interdisciplinary team.
